Franz Josef Glacier Heli-Hike
Fly high onto Franz Josef Glacier and spend around two and a quarter hours walking the ice itself — the only tour that puts crampons on your boots since the 2012 collapse ended valley access. Round-trip helicopter flights, boots, crampons, jacket and expert ice guides are all included, with your guide cutting steps and picking a safe line through caves and pinnacles. It is the most-booked tour at the glacier, and the reason is the time on the ice, not just the flight. Moderately challenging; check in at the Cron Street base 30 minutes early.
